This entry is part 12 of 30 in the series Nostalgic Showcase Presents

As we reach the one year anniversary of this series in October 6th, I am faced with the intimidating question: “What next?” I’m excited to announce the in-person presentation of Nostalgic Showcase Presents Live! This series of programming will be a more interactive version of these articles, with the first in the series focusing on the early years of Hollywood and film history, with a brief rundown of some of the failed studios, supplemented with clips from films and animated shorts from the Public Domain. In early December, Nostalgic Showcase Presents Live! will return with an educational showcase of the most heart-warming and bone chilling winter and holiday themed animated shorts and films from the past century, hand picked by myself. The continuation of the in-person series is dependent on attendance, so I hope you’ll join me for these edutainment programs at WPPL!

As for the continuation of the print version of this series, I have no plans of stopping, as long as I’m employed at WPPL. There’s a finite number of defunct studios out there, but I have barely scratched the surface of my list over the past year! From Terrytoons, to UPA, Walter Lantz, Hanna-Barbera, and many others, the second year of NSP will be focused on the animation giants that rocked the industry and Saturday mornings of the ’50s and ’60s. I’d recommend sticking around if you love reading about those vintage ‘toons!

Now, this wouldn’t be a good celebration without some entertainment, so I’ve collected some of my personal favorite movies, shorts, and series showcased in previous articles down below!
