Welcome back to the Kinder Club blog! Each week we will focus on a letter of the alphabet and share fun stories, activities and tips to help reinforce a variety of kindergarten readiness skills.

This week’s letter is Ll!

L is for ladybug, leaf and lion!

Can you trace the letter in the picture above with your finger? Can you write the letter on a piece of paper? Try writing the letter in uppercase and lowercase. Remember uppercase is BIG and lowercase is small.

Leaf it to Mrs. K. to find the perfect fall book to share today! Fall has come, the wind is gusting, and Leaf Man is on the move. Click on the video below to listen to Mrs. K. share the story of Leaf Man and his adventures. Where did Leaf Man go in our story? Can you name some of the animals that were made out of leaves? Now that you’ve listened to the story, make your own Leaf Man by collecting leaves from your back yard! What else can you make out of leaves?

Thank you to Harcourt Inc. for allowing us to share this story with you.

Mrs. K. went on a letter hunt looking for things that start with the letter L. How many things did she find? Can you name them? How many things can you find? Did you find anything on your body? Did you find anything outside? Can you think of any animals that start with our letter? What was your favorite item that you found today?

If you picked up a Letter of the Week packet from the library, have fun completing this week’s activities and stay tuned for next week’s letter.

Kindergarten Readiness Tip: L is for letter recognition. Take a look at the letters below. How many can you name? Practice writing your name and some of the letters listed below this week. While out on a walk or at the grocery store with your grown-up, look for the letter that your name begins with.
