Westlake Porter Public Library is proud to present the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment!

Northstar Digital Literacy

Offered through WPPL, the service is aimed at helping adults acquire the technology skills they need in today’s workplace.

Sign up for a learner account here. You can also visit the website as a guest, but you won’t be able to save your progress.

(Going to a web browser and typing www.tinyurl.com/wpplnorthstar in the address bar will also get you there).

You’ll be sent an email to complete your account setup. Computer classes from now on will also include an introduction to Northstar, so if you need help setting up your account, feel free to sign up for a computer class through the online library calendar or by calling WPPL at 440-871-2600.

Once you’ve checked your email and created a password, log in here: https://www.digitalliteracyassessment.org/login/

To get started, pick a topic and take an assessment to see what you know about it! Don’t worry; you can do this as many times as you want.

Missed or skipped questions will prompt Northstar to show you videos and interactive web pages about that topic so you can learn more about it and practice.

Videos can be navigated like this:

Once you’ve mastered a subject and feel comfortable with what’s on the assessments, you can take a proctored test on it at the library if you want to (contact us at 440-871-2600 or email jennifer.norton@westlakelibrary.org to schedule a proctored test). If you pass, you’ll get a certificate from Northstar that you can use in places like job applications or for professional development.
