Welcome back to the Kinder Club blog! Each week we will focus on a letter of the alphabet and share fun stories, activities and tips to help reinforce a variety of kindergarten readiness skills.

This week’s letter is Jj!

J is for jacket, jet and jingle bell!

Can you trace the letter in the picture above with your finger? Can you write the letter on a piece of paper? Try writing the letter in uppercase and lowercase. Remember uppercase is BIG and lowercase is small.

Click on the video below to listen to Mrs. K. share a fun story about Mr. Horse and his barnyard friends’ sleigh ride adventure. How many animals were in the sleigh? Do you remember what the horse was wearing around his neck and what noise it made? What color was the sleigh in our story? Did the sleigh go fast or slow?

Thank you to Sterling Publishers – Boxer Books for allowing us to share this story with you.

Mrs. K. went searching for things that start with the letter J. What did she find? Now it’s your turn! What can you find that starts with the letter J?
How many things did you find today? Were any of your items food? How about something you wear?

If you picked up a Letter of the Week packet from the library, have fun completing this week’s activities and stay tuned for next week’s letter.

Kindergarten Readiness Tip: J is for JUST right noise level! Has your grown-up ever asked you to use your inside voice? What do you think that means? When we use our inside voice we tend to be quieter and calmer than when using our loud outside voice. Can you name some places where you would use an inside voice? What about an outside voice? Practice using your inside and outside voices this week. Remember to think about where you are at and what you are doing before selecting your just right noise level.
