Welcome back to the Kinder Club blog! Each week we will focus on a letter of the alphabet and share fun stories, activities and tips to help you get ready to make the big leap into Kindergarten.

This week’s letter is Uu!

U is for umbrella, unicorn and up!

Can you trace the letter in the picture above with your finger? Can you write the letter on a piece of paper? Try writing the letter in uppercase and lowercase. Remember uppercase is BIG and lowercase is small.

Click on the video below to hear Mrs. K. share a sweet story that is perfect for a rainy day. What color was the umbrella is our story? Did our umbrella have a happy face or a sad face? Do you have an umbrella at your house?

Thank you to Simon and Schuster publishers for allowing us to share this story with you.

Mrs. K. went on a letter hunt today, but U is a tricky letter so she only found a few items that start with the letter U. How many things can you find? What was the silliest item you found? What was the biggest item you found? Did you have a favorite item for the letter U?

If you picked up a Letter of the Week packet from the library, have fun completing this week’s activities and stay tuned for next week’s letter.

Kindergarten Readiness Tip: U is for understanding instructions. It is very important to listen to your parents and teachers when they ask you to do something. Practice your listening skills this week and see if you understand what your parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors ask you to do. Remember it is ALWAYS okay to ask for help if you do not understand something!
