The Baby-Sitters Club is a series that brings back wonderful childhood nostalgia for me. There are many series in the books that follow 7 girls on their baby-sitting jobs, friendships, and family life. Ann M. Martin is responsible for writing the first thirty-five books in the series. She hired a ghostwriter to write the rest. The main series which was written between 1986-1999 includes 131 books. Since then, there have been many spinoffs to the series including super specials, graphic novels of the original series, mysteries, and graphic novels of Kristy Thomas’ little sister Karen. Forty years later these books continue to be read by the next generation. Adults alike, including myself, revisit old favorites as well as new graphic novels that continue to be published year after year. Westlake Porter Public Library has many books for those who wish to read a Baby-Sitters Club book. The newest release in the Baby-Sitters club series (published July 2026) comes the first ever fan edition of the Baby-Sitters Club written by the beloved Ann M. Martin in collaboration with various authors. This is a must read this Summer for every Baby-Sitters Club fan out there. This book follows Mary Anne and Stacey staying in Stoneybrook while Kristy, Claudia, Dawn, Jessi, and Mallory head out to adventures all across the map. This book is a thank you to the dedicated fans as the series turns 40 in August.
