Did you know that Westlake Porter Library has LEGO sets you can check out? More importantly, did you know that LEGOs are for all age groups? Yes, it’s true LEGO bricks are truly for everyone! LEGO sets are part of Westlake Porter Library’s non-traditional materials collection. Just like books, you are able to check out a LEGO set for up to 3 weeks at a time with a valid Westlake Porter Library card. Some of the popular LEGO collections for both children and adults are outlined below.

There is a program called “Brick Builders” that is offered frequently for those aged 5-12. The next event is Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 2-3 p.m. Be sure to stop by the front lobby this month and early June to see some of the LEGO displays that staff members have put together in their free time.

The poster below highlights some of the popular LEGO collections available at our library. These sets include Architecture, City, Friends, Friends Heartlake City, Minecraft, and various movies and TV shows. To search for more LEGO sets you can borrow please visit the library’s non-traditional materials page or the library catalog.

My personal favorite from Westlake Porter Library’s collection is the Friends Central Perk LEGO set. This was my first LEGO build and is a must for any fan of the show. If you are looking for it online, you might have a hard time finding it as it is now retired. This is a perfect example of why borrowing it from the library is a great option. It took me about a week to build and I enjoyed watching the show as I built it. LEGO is a great way to bond with friends, family, and loved ones. It doesn’t matter what your age or what your skill level is. If you are worried about following the steps, every set comes with a complete instruction booklet. The instruction booklet is an easy guide that takes you step by step. The instruction booklet is ideal for every type of builder from the amateur to the expert!

Westlake Porter Library offers a great selection of LEGO books to improve your LEGO skills at home. Some of these books include a how-to guide for basic building to more elaborate techniques like lighting and engineering. The following are just a few that our library offers that may be helpful for even the most advanced builder. The important thing when it comes to building LEGO sets is to remember to have fun, relax, and happy building!
