Opening Song (with American Sign Language)

Hello Friends! (to the tune of Goodnight Ladies)

Hello Friends,
Hello Friends,
Hello Friends,
It’s time to say hello!

We’re Going to the Beach Tune: Farmer in the Dell
Original idea from Hummingbird Educational Resources.

We’re going to the beach,
We’re going to the beach.
I think we’ll see some flip-flops there!
We’re going to the beach.

We’re going to the beach,
We’re going to the beach.
I think we’ll see a castle there!
 We’re going to the beach.

We’re going to the beach,
We’re going to the beach.
I think we’ll see a starfish there!
 We’re going to the beach.

We’re going to the beach,
We’re going to the beach.
I think we’ll see a beach ball there!
 We’re going to the beach.

We’re going to the beach,
We’re going to the beach.
I think we’ll see a seashell there!
We’re going to the beach.

The Waves at the Beach (The Wheels on the Bus)
The waves at the beach go up and down, (bounce baby up and down on knees smoothly)
up and down, up and down,
the waves at the beach go up and down, all day long.
The sun at the beach goes shine, shine, shine… (open and close hands)
The crabs at the beach go pinch, pinch, pinch… (make pinchy motion with hands)
The jellyfish at the beach go wibble wobble wibble….. (wiggle arms like a jellyfish up)
The seals at the beach go arf, arf, arf… (clap hands and bark like a seal)
The seagulls at the beach go skwak, skwak, skwak…
The children at the beach have fun fun fun… (gently lap with hands)

If You’re Going to the Pool (Tune: If You’re Happy and You Know It)
If you’re going to the pool, wear your suit,
If you’re going to the pool, wear your suit,
If you’re going to the pool, then a suit will keep you cool
If you’re going to the pool, wear your suit.
(Additional verses: hat, flip flops, sunglasses)

(to the tune of Goodnight Ladies)
Goodbye friends,
Goodbye friends,
Goodbye friends,
It’s time to say goodbye.

Literacy Tip

Freeze songs are a great way for children to practice control.  Yes, freeze songs are really exciting and fun and often end in laughter, but they also teach kids to listen, focus, react and control their bodies.
