Did you know the library has a mobile app? The library’s app can be used to browse materials, check your account, and even check out materials.

To download our app, search the Play Store / App Store on your mobile device. Search the app store for “Westlake Porter Library.” The library app is free to download.

Once you have downloaded the app, you will want to sign in with your library card to use all of its features.

Don’t have a library card? You can apply for a library card here and gain instant access to our free digital resources.

If you already have a card, sign in to the app by tapping the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.

A new page will slide open. Tap “Sign In”

You will have the option to either scan the barcode of your library card, or manually type in the card number and PIN.

Once signed in, you can begin to manage your account. Tapping the menu icon (three horizontal lines) anywhere in the app is the quickest way to access your account:

The home page of the app will look like this:

Swiping to the second page gives you even more options.

To use the self checkout feature:

Tap Self Checkout.

You will then be prompted to enable location services on your device. This is required because you can only check out materials before leaving the library (not at home), so the app must be able to see that you are inside the library.

Move your phone slowly over the item’s front or back cover. Watch screen for instructions.

If it is a book, look for the square white ‘tag’ sticker inside the back cover and hold your phone over the tag.

The app can only scan one item at a time.

After sensing the RFID tag, the book will be checked out to you.

You can double check by tapping on My Account or the menu (three horizontal lines) and then seeing your checkouts.

Some items will need to be checked out at the Circulation Desk. These include Launchpad tablets and Playaway View devices, video games, WiFi hotspots, Book Club bags, SearchOhio items, and various kits such as the STEAM kits.

A staff member can assist you with the app if you encounter any issues.

The last page of the app has an option to reset your PIN if you have forgotten it, and a help button that has library contact information.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or clarifications about using the library mobile app.
