Way up in the sky,
The little birds fly.
While down in their nest,
The little birds rest.
With a wing on the left

Five Crows all Shiny Black (Sung to: “Five Green and Speckled Frogs”)
Five crows all shiny black,
Sat on a scarecrow’s back,
eating some most delicious corn …

Scarecrow winked and shouted “Boo!”
Scared one crow and away he flew,
now there are four black shiny crows, caw caw!

(to the tune of Goodnight Ladies)
Goodbye friends,
Goodbye friends,
Goodbye friends,
It’s time to say goodbye.
Literacy Tip
Use books to help teach new words. Books can teach less common words, words that children may not hear in everyday conversation. As you read, talk about what these words mean.
